GREEN STAR BROWN BAG SERIES: ENERGY EFFICIENT LIGHTING

September’s Brown Bag workshop will focus on energy efficient lighting. Mike McGrath, owner of Alaska Commercial Lighting will speak about converting commercial buildings to more efficient standards and the latest available lighting technologies. US Department of Energy states, “As a nation, we spend about one-quarter of our electricity budget on lighting, or more than $37 billion annually. Yet much of this expense is unnecessary. Technologies developed during the past 10 years can help us cut lighting costs 30% to 60% while enhancing lighting quality and reducing environmental impacts.”
Mr. McGrath has worked in Alaska for 16 years promoting energy efficient lighting. His company performs lighting maintenance, sells energy efficient lighting products, and retrofits and upgrades existing lighting systems.

Lighting offers a business or home a substantial opportunity for energy savings, and cost savings. And it’s often as easy as changing a light bulb. Join us at the BP Energy Center on Wednesday, September 17th, from 11:45am – 1pm to learn more. The workshop is free and open to the public.
