Take the 3-2-1-EFFICIENCY! pledge to reduce greenhouse gas emmissions.
A campaign of Alaska Youth for Environmental Action (AYEA)
3-2-1 Efficiency! AYEA, a program of the National Wildlife Federation, is launching a project to combat global warming by inspiring individuals to take personal actions to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. The project asks each individual to take three distinct actions at home that will help offset thousands of pounds of carbon dioxide from being released into the atmosphere. AYEA's goal is to get 6,000 Alaskans (any age!) to take the pledge and implement change. AYEA hopes to get enough compact fluorescent lamps donated to give one to each person who signs the pledge! To sign the pledge or to get your business, organization, or school/class involved, go to www.ayea.org.
- Replace your three most commonly used incandescent light bulbs with compact fluorescent lamps (CFLs)
(cuts emissions by 300 lbs of C02/year);
- Turn your thermostat down in the winter by two degrees
(cuts emissions by 2,000 lbs C02/year); and
- Unplug one appliance when not in use
(cuts emissios by 1,000 lbs C02).
